Problem Gambling

In this training you will learn how to recognize problem gambling behaviors, as well as the effects these behaviors can have on a person's life and the lives of their loved ones.  You'll also learn how parents, schools, and organizations can be mindful of things that promote gambling.  The training covers who is most at risk for problem gambling and what assistance is available for those who need help managing their problem gambling.

Alcohol & Tobacco

This training covers how advertising influences youth alcohol and tobacco use, youth party tendencies, party games and non-traditional alcoholic and tobacco use, alcohol and tobacco concealment methods, how COVID-19 presents new risks for problem drinking, and the importance of preventing youth use.


This training covers the ingredients in e-liquid sometimes referred to as "vapor", how various electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) work, negative health effects, including a pulmonary disease known as EVALI, how e-cigarette companies are targeting young people through marketing tactics, and current NYS legislation on e-cigarettes.

Designer Drugs

This training discusses current drug trends including syntheticcathinones (bath salts), MDMA (Molly, Ecstasy), synthetic cannabinoids (Spice, K-2), Kratom, GHB, Rohypnol, LSD, PCP and others. Participants will get to learn the origin of each drug, physiologic effects, which drugs are increasing in popularity and their current legal status.

Substance Use Disorder 101

This training covers the DSM–5 criteria for Substance Use Disorders, diseases that affect a person's brain and behavior that lead to an inability to control the use of a legal or illegal drug or medication. Learn the causes of SUDs, signs and symptoms, co-occurrence with other disorders, treatment modalities, levels of care, and the multiple pathways to recovery.


This training covers the history of marijuana, current drug trends in marijuana use, signs and symptoms of use, potential dangers and benefits, the New York State medical marijuana program, and issues related to current efforts to legalize marijuana for adult recreational use.
